For 36 years, Caples has celebrated courageous creative with winning entries from direct marketing professionals around the world. In partnership with Direct Marketing News, Caples is proud to continue the Caples Student Campaign of the Year Award, which offers undergraduate students an opportunity to be part of this annual international event and compete for an internship and substantial cash prize based on the strength of their ideas and innovation in the field of direct marketing.

Sponsored by ASL Marketing, the competition allows students to take a real-world problem and apply their knowledge of direct marketing.

Assignment

The Caples Student Campaign of the Year requires students to design a marketing campaign. This year the challenge is to help Denny's Restaurant devise a plan to reach out to a new target segment: college students. In its new focus on the college demographic, Denny’s goal is to create a complementary effort that ladders up to its overall brand strategy. The assignment included a written plan and creative elements.

2014 wINNERS

Natalie Rojas and Rémy Law of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City received a generous $5,000 cash prize for their winning campaign, as well as an internship at ASL Marketing and a paid trip to the annual Caples Awards in New York City in November 2014.

You will need to use your creativity as well as your ability to think strategically and analytically, to create a campaign that ensures the client achieves its desired objective.

Is there a fee to enter?
Entries for the Caples Student Campaign of the Year competition are free.

When are entries due?
Check back in May 2015 for updates on the Student Campaign of the Year.

Am I qualified to enter?
You can enter as long as you are enrolled as an undergraduate student at a U.S. college, university or portfolio school between November 1, 2013 and November 1, 2015, and are 18 years of age or older. All majors are welcome to enter.

How do I submit my entry?
Please email all final entries to: CaplesSCOTY@gmail.com
All print/physical elements of your campaign must be postmarked by the entry deadline and mailed to:

Can I work in a group?
Yes, and we encourage you to do so, but you are welcome to enter as an individual as well.

Do I have to work with a professor?
No, but it is encouraged as he/she can provide valuable feedback about your entry before you submit it.
